Description

A warm, comforting apple crisp recipe made with tart apples and a sweet, buttery oat topping. Perfect for fall gatherings, weeknight desserts, or holiday celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats

  • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt

  • 12 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into pieces

  • 10 cups sliced and peeled Granny Smith apples (about 8 medium)

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.

  2. In a bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Work in cold butter until crumbly. Set aside.

  3. In another bowl, toss apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and cornstarch. Spread into prepared pan.

  4. Sprinkle topping evenly over apples.

  5. Bake 45 minutes, until topping is golden brown and apples are tender and bubbling.

  6. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Combine tart and sweet apples for more flavor depth.

  • Keep butter cold for a crisp topping.

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
